What Makes a Strong Abstract
Strong abstracts:
-
Name a specific ethical decision, policy, or practice
-
Show how ethical analysis informed outcomes, approaches, or decision-making
-
Ground the work in a defined context
-
Offer insights, tools, or approaches others can use
-
Write clearly for non-specialists in your field
Abstracts should avoid:
-
Describing a project without explaining the ethical issue or analysis
-
Remaining entirely theoretical without connection to practice
-
Using geographic location as context without explaining its ethical relevance
-
Offering no practical insight, implication, or question for discussion
Abstract Requirements

-
Key findings, insights, or applications — what did you learn? What tools or approaches emerge?
-
Relevance to conference — how does this connect to the theme and contribute to cross-sectoral dialogue?
Format requirements:
-
Plain text, 300 words maximum — strictly enforced
-
Clear, accessible language — written for a mixed audience of scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and community members
-
